4 Reasons Why You Won’t Make Money Online In 2018

Looking To Finally Make Money Online In 2018? Then DON’T Make These Mistakes…

So before you start reading this post, I’m guessing you want to make 2018 a big year?

You’ve probably set yourself some new years resolutions, and if you’re reading this in January… you’re probably still on course to achieve them.

But how many times have you set the goal to succeed with internet marketing and failed? How many times have you wanted to go full time online, making an income from home… but never managed to achieve it?

This post is for you if you want to finally make 2018 ‘your year’.

Start By Learning From 2017

Before discussing the reasons why you’ll struggle to succeed online this year, it’s important to look back at 2017. Spend some time reflecting on what worked and what didn’t.

What mistakes did you make and how can you learn from them?

What strategies did you implement that seemed easy to you or made you money online?

How can you commit more time and effort into starting your online business?

Reflecting on your efforts from last year is a great place to start, because the new year is simply a new day. Nothing has drastically changed, so learn from your efforts in the past before you move forward.

Focusing on what you did and didn’t do well last year is important, it’s going to give you clarity on what you can do more of or differently in 2018.

Now for the reasons why you’re likely to fail…

looking back

1. You’ll Try To Do Too Much

In January and February you’ll probably find yourself spending countless hours behind the computer screen. You won’t be able to get the prospect of making money online out of your mind, and you’ll do all you can to succeed.

But the danger attached to this is you’ll burn out quickly. You’ll overload yourself and before you know it you’ll find yourself back to square one.

It’s just like the gym. In January the gym is the busiest it will ever get throughout the year, because people set the goal of losing weight. But they spend the first month overloading themselves with strict diet plans, daily intense exercise and they make too many changes at once.

This is why making sure you reflect and learn from 2017 is important, don’t take on too much at the beginning of the year.

Instead of trying to learn how to master Facebook Ads and Shopify, whilst building an Instagram profile and trying to make money via affiliate marketing and an email list… focus in on one thing. One strategy.

Don’t do too much at once…

2. You’ll Go After Instant Results

We all want to see results quickly, we all want instant gratification. Reward for us as internet marketers is when we see commissions being paid out, sales being made and money hitting our accounts. But wanting instant results can be dangerous…

By the end of January a lot of people will give up or reduce their efforts to make money online. Why? Because the hard work isn’t paying off quick enough…

They give up, completely forgetting that there’s another 11 months in the year to achieve their income goals. Patience really is king when it comes to getting started online today, and beating yourself up because you’re not getting results quick enough is a recipe for failure.

Set yourself short term goals to achieve a certain amount of income, but don’t give up if you fail to achieve it.

Who knows… you could be one more business idea away from success.

3. You Won’t Hold Yourself Accountable

When the year starts you’ll find yourself having enough drive and motivation to do the work. You’ll be motivated, you’ll be driven to achieve because you won’t want to fail again.

But as time goes on, that motivation will start to decrease. You’ll find it hard to hold yourself accountable.

This is where having more accountability in place to keep you on track to achieve your goals is important. It could be as simple as having a friend hold you accountable, it could be joining a Facebook group with people in a similar position to you to keep you accountable, or it could be hiring a mentor, coach or joining a high end program.

Whatever it is, accountability is a key ingredient to achieving the goals you set.

4. You Don’t Have A Strong Enough ‘Why’

Last but not least, and again this is related to your motivation throughout the year, you need to have a strong enough reason behind why you want to succeed online.

To save yourself from giving up if things aren’t going your way, to save yourself from procrastinating when really you should be implementing new strategies you’ve just learned… write down WHY you’re doing this.

Why do you want to make money online?

Why do you want to work from home?

Why do you want the freedom of being your own boss?

If your ‘why’ is to drive a fancy car or to go on a luxury holiday, you might find that that reason isn’t strong enough to keep you motivated throughout the year.

But if your ‘why’ is to support your family, to make your children happy, to help pay for support for someone close to you or to secure a healthy future… you might find yourself staying motivated throughout the year.

Write down why you want to make money online this year and the remind yourself of this why every time you struggle for motivation.
